It's more of a 4.5 because we'd definitely go again if we're in Hayward again, but the rolls weren't blow your mind. I got the bento. Tasty and perfectly cooked salmon teriyaki... Too much sauce so I'd personally ask for it on the side next time. The salmon sashimi was nice thick cuts and fresh. The 49er roll was well executed, lots of filling and fresh cuts of salmon on top.

-Parking lot is small, not easy to find parking. -Ambiance is nice with Japanese-decoration. -Every table has hand sanitizer. -Food and Service are good and authentic. Three Japanese sushi chefs are working at the sushi bar. Nigiris are fresh and decent cut of thickness. -Hot tea is not complementary, it's $1 per cup. -Birthday ice cream is complementary and is a nice touch.

Food: Favorite Appetizers: Gyoza, Grilled Edamame Favorite Rolls: Avocado/Cucumber add Mango, Green Dragon, Washington Roll Favorite Entrees: Chicken/Salmon Teriyaki, would be nice if they included grilled veggies with the chicken, very large portion of rice Value: Disappointed that it seems like their To-Go orders and Edamame seem to be much smaller portions than they used to be. They are also charging $3/roll for soy paper in place of seaweed, which used to be free to sub out. Ambiance: Very cramped so go early, Sat and Sundays are the most crowded, quaint set up, sushi bar and workers right when you walk in. The workers are super nice, friendly and food comes out quickly.

As good as Amakara which is our quality bar. Sushi Hanabi has a small dining area, probably a total of 15 to 20 tables. We got there by 5:20 and when we left, every table was occupied. Mom and pop family vibe. We had the chirashi bowl, crazy monkey roll, and a beer. The chirashi bowl had over 15 pcs of delicious fresh good size sashimi pieces. The crazy monkey roll was really great, avoid shrimp tempura and get raw fish in your roll, topped with unagi? Yum! They weren't skimpy on the tobiko either! If I need to impress someone, I'd take them to Amakara. If I don't care and want a homey vibe, go to Sushi Hanabi

Best sushi in Pleasanton! That is quite a statement based on all the great options in the area. Upon entering, I feel like I'm on the set of Midnight Diner. Like a Japanese restaurant off a small side street in Tokyo. A warm greeting from the staff and I'm sat at my favorite table. Look to the daily specials for some unique and exquisite fresh fish. You must have the fresh wasabi to complement the sushi. Start with some hot appetizers, a salad (the Albacore Tataki has amazing flavor), a simple California roll with 100% real crab, and a variety of nigiri's. A perfect meal paired with a big cold beer.

Eating at Hanabi reminds me of eating at an intimate & charming restaurant in Osaka. From the moment you walk into the restaurant, you are greeted; "Irasshaimase" (welcome in japanese). I've had so many items (look at pics) from the menu but my favorites are always the simple things. I don't like when sushi is slathered in sauce. I like when it is fresh and simple. My favorite is the albacore tatake. Seared albacore with spring mix, jalepeno, avocado, miso sauce and spicy powder. I also love the uni nigiri. The real wasabi is so fresh and accentuates the flavors of the sushi. Service is almost always great. Shout out to Hayden. She is always so friendly and efficient. My favorite waitress at Hanabi. Also upon careful observation, the main chef is so passionate about making sushi. He also washes his hands after every order. I appreciate the cleanliness :) They always say "arigato" upon leaving and thank you for dining with them. I'll be back again and again...
